The Avavare Indians: A Historical Overview

The Avavare Indians were an otherwise unidentified group for which Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca became medicine man in South Texas in 1528. They lived west of the Mariames and Yguaces, with whom they traded although they spoke a different language.
