El Camino Angosto is located just south of the San Benito city limits in central Cameron County. This residential community probably began in the 1990s and consists of primarily Hispanic, lower-income families. The first population figures were recorded in the 2000 census when El Camino Angosto reported 254 residents. It is part of the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District. The name El Camino Angosto is Spanish for "the narrow road."
