Hickory Creek: A Growing Community in Denton County

Hickory Creek is located west of Interstate 35E about eight miles southeast of Denton in southeastern Denton County. Named for the nearby creek, the community developed in the 1960s and incorporated by 1969. In 1970 the population was 218, but that figure increased dramatically during the next decade to 1,422 in 1980. In 2000 the population was 2,078. Hickory Creek has a mayor/council form of government and its own police department. The community supports a number of retail businesses and chains.
