History of Marekville: A Czech Community in Bell County
Published: 1952

Marekville was a small community in eastern Bell County that was founded by Czechs around the end of the nineteenth century. The hamlet was named for the Marek family who had settled in the area at that time. The Marek family operated a store. Marekville had a population of twenty-five and two businesses in 1933. As the Mareks married into the Zabcik family and the community store changed hands, the name of Marekville was changed to Zabcikville. See ZABCIKVILLE.
