Discover Nunnelee: A Historic Rural Community in Fannin County
Published: April 27, 2005
Nunnelee is a small rural community on Farm Road 898 about three miles northwest of Bonham in northwestern Fannin County. The settlement probably began by the late 1800s or early 1900s and was named for the Nunnelee family, who were early pioneers in the area. Agricultural maps of the 1920s showed a country school and farms in the region. No population figures were available until 1990, when Nunnelee reported twenty-five residents. That figure stayed constant through 2000.
