Discover Wyldwood: A Growing Community in Bastrop County
Published: December 9, 2005
Wyldwood is a small community located off State Highway 71 about seven miles west of Bastrop in western Bastrop County. The community began sometime in the 1980s, and its name is possibly connected to a small zoo that operated in the area at that time. In 1990 Wyldwood had 1,764 residents. That figure had increased to 2,310 by 2000. The community consists of residences, some industrial development, and Wyldwood Baptist Church.
